If you`re in the area again, take a 15min train ride South to Forcheim, head for the Kellerwald where you`ll find approx 26 beer gardens with about 30,000 seats. They all open at Annafest time, however quite a few of them open all year.
Steve.g1inknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8943606491780538470.post-82293741879267530712012-03-18T11:01:28.177+01:002012-03-18T11:01:28.177+01:00No problem at all! The Kaiserdom Brauerei is a pain to walk to, but is worth the time to go there. Greifenklau - stayed in their hotel (not attached) and had a good time with good German breakfast included - yum! The location of the Klosterbrau was tremendous, the staff pleasant and the food pretty good to me. There are zillions of great little breweries in the vicinity of Bamberg (found a book in English at the Drei Kronen in Memmelsdorf - 19E) and I have not found a bad one yet! I will be back! Last post - sorry for droning!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09548148498362337411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8943606491780538470.post-32557317371289616232012-03-15T23:33:26.024+01:002012-03-15T23:33:26.024+01:00Forgot to mention that, while I enjoy the Faessla&...Forgot to mention that, while I enjoy the Faessla's beer and breakfast (I have stayed there and enjoyed it) I was underwhelmed by their dinner food. A German pensioner that I sat with and I both came to the same conclusion - uninspiring and a little costly - even with my horrible German! I had my best and most enjoyable extended time in their entrance hallway. Brauerei Spezial - inspiring and excellent food and beer! Will go there in April! Mahr's - wonderful! Maisel Bamberg - dead and depressing!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09548148498362337411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8943606491780538470.post-41033699496145250512012-03-15T23:29:28.526+01:002012-03-15T23:29:28.526+01:00Actually, I did see that and was tempted. maybe ne...Actually, I did see that and was tempted. maybe next time, though it is nice to just linger in a place for a couple of hours :)

You're description of Ambräusianum is spot on! :DBarry Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07367655129107699025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8943606491780538470.post-11304659019737973612012-03-15T23:23:25.713+01:002012-03-15T23:23:25.713+01:00Bamberg is one of my favorite places to visit. Yo...Bamberg is one of my favorite places to visit. You should try the Bamberger Bierschmecker tour, which gets you a bamberg backpack, mug, bier guide and some coupons for bier (or something else) - available from the tourist office. I agree on the Ambrausium as well. Depressingly Stereotypically American beer pubby, in the bad way, with mostly uninspiring beer - although the doppelbock I had was acceptable. Alas, I had to overcome my depression at the Schlenkerla, which quickly killed it!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09548148498362337411noreply@blogger.com
